He's now the first Nets rookie in history to achieve multiple games with six or more threes.
Now, let's talk defense, because this is where the controversy might spark: The new three-guard lineup, surprisingly, gelled exceptionally well on the defensive end. While Keyontae George of the Jazz had a strong outing with 26 points, the other two Jazz guards, Cody Williams and Svi Mykhailiuk, were largely contained, scoring a combined nine points. Traoré contributed with two blocks, Mann added a steal, and Demin showcased solid help defense capabilities.
However, Nic Claxton's defensive prowess was truly the highlight. He was a force, tallying three steals and two blocks, alongside nine rebounds. His ability to create turnovers that led to quick fastbreak points was a game-changer, thanks to his rapid ball movement up the court.
Despite only scoring six points, Claxton logged a team-high 30 minutes and was an invaluable asset as a screener. He flawlessly caught a lob from Demin and made intelligent passes out of pick-and-roll situations.
Rounding out the starting frontcourt was Danny Wolf, who proved to be the second-leading scorer among the Nets' starters with 14 points on efficient 6-of-11 shooting. He also grabbed five rebounds. While Wolf's ability to hit his two-point attempts was solid, his floor-stretching capabilities are particularly noteworthy, as they allow the offense to maintain a similar flow to when Michael Porter Jr. is in the game.
There was a clear synergy between the rookies, Wolf and Traoré. Though Traoré's shooting efficiency wasn't perfect (3-for-8 from the field for seven points), he led the team with a season-high six assists, frequently finding Wolf for shots around the perimeter and on cuts.
While this new lineup might not be a permanent fixture once Porter Jr. is back, its blend of youthful energy and veteran savvy proved incredibly effective in this single game.
