Launceston Water Crisis: Long Lines and Disruption (2026)

Water shortages in Launceston, Tregadillet, and surrounding areas have caused significant disruption, with long queues forming at bottled water stations. South West Water has confirmed that residents are still experiencing a temporary loss of water, with repair work ongoing. The firm has delivered bottled water to vulnerable customers and opened two stations at Martins Cash and Carry and Trethorne Leisure Park. Some schools and a local fish and chip shop were unable to open due to the disruption. While the water supply is being restored, customers may notice discoloured water, which is safe to drink. South West Water apologises for the inconvenience and thanks residents for their patience and understanding.
